[ A full week after the blow-out that had threatened to push Erika - and Asari, too, as little as she'd like to admit it - off the precipice that they'd been teetering on for the past year, and Erika's standing in the hallway outside Asari's homeroom, fingering a cigarette and scowling at everyone who passes by. Had anyone asked her to patch up the open wound between them, Erika would have laughed and exacerbated the situation just to show how little she cared.

But the fact remains that she does care, even if it's less about Asari and more about herself. This has nothing to do with tennis; this isn't about presenting a united front to the opposition. Erika has never cared about team dynamics, and she's not about to start now.

No, this goes a shade deeper than that.

She can hear the shuffle of papers as Asari's homeroom teacher dismisses the class. Erika slouches over further, her scowl deepening. ]

[The class isn't missing too many students, if someone were to count, but two of the three missing students make up a huge amount of the noise and activity in the class and Ahim notices right away when they are missing. Their homeroom teacher doesn't seem to mind when he calls their names and no one answers; considering the rambunctiousness of Marvelous and Luka, he is probably thankful, Ahim thinks.

But it's not good for any of them to be absent, especially when all three of them have grades to maintain. Ahim stops paying attention to the teacher and thinks about what could be going on. Perhaps one of them was sick and the others went to visit? Or - someone mentioned sneaking out of class and they all went along.

There is a short break between teachers leaving and arriving. Ahim takes the first of them to turn in her seat, looking back at Don.]

Do you know if Marvelous-san or Luka-san mentioned they would be absent today?
